About this Blog
Welcome to my little corner of the internet. This is not another blog about blogging, nor is it a blog about social media or SEO – doesn’t the world have enough of those? This is, as advertised, a potpourri of things in my world - things that make me think, things that make me laugh, things that are happening around me.
I think people get to know each other through conversation, but sometimes we don’t have the luxury of chatting over a cup of coffee – that’s where this blog comes in. I welcome comments – you can click on the conversation bubble near the upper right of any given post and jump right in.
About Me
Hi, I’m Deborah. I started this blog about a month ago as of this writing. I intended it as a place where I can share what’s on my mind, which is often in excess of Twitter’s 140 characters, is sometimes more serious than Facebook encourages, and is at times more personal than LinkedIn’s professional bent.
I was born and raised in the Chicago area, attended college in bucolic Urbana, and graduate school at the University of Chicago’s business school, which was until recently called the Graduate School of Business (now it’s called Booth – thank you, Mr. Booth).
I lived in France twice during my studies, first as an undergraduate in Paris, where I studied at the Sorbonne, and later as a grad student in Dijon, where I ran the University’s Study Abroad program.
After completion of my master’s in French, I moved to Chicago where I worked for a French bank, caught the finance bug, earned my MBA, and never looked back.
I love fresh thinking, the energy of a city, and the stimulation of a good discussion. I am an eternal student of literature and business, an aspiring cook, gardener, photographer, and videographer, a Francophile, occasional trivia champ, and a book lover (yes, the paper kind). Oh, and did I mention that I love to laugh?
